The Indian stock market will be closed today, August 31, in observance of Ganesh Chaturthi 2022. The entire session between 9:15 and 3:30 pm will see no trading on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) or the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).Wednesday trading on the currency and derivatives markets will also be suspended.

The official BSE website’s list of stock market holidays for 2022 indicates that there won’t be any activity in the equity, equity derivative, or SLB segments either. The MCX, on the other hand, will be closed to trading in the morning session from 9 am to 5 pm. The trading will resume in the evening session from 5:00 until 11:30/11:55.

The morning session of the Commodity Derivative Segment will be closed, while the evening session will be open. On August 9 and August 15, in observance of Muharram and Independence Day, respectively, the stock market was closed.

According to analysts, markets are currently valued at premium levels, and ongoing support from foreign investors has helped domestic stocks rise slightly. “Amid conflicting global cues, markets made a remarkable recovery and rose more than 2.5 percent. Markets have decisively moved upward since the recent decline, but continued growth would require sustainability. Ahead domestic data like core sector and auto sales numbers will be monitored for cues even though the global cues are still inconsistent. We advise keeping a bullish but cautious attitude and advise favouring long positions in top-performing industries like banking, financials, auto, FMCG, and real estate, according to Ajit Mishra, VP – Research, Religare Broking.
