Petrol and diesel prices were already higher than normal/ Even though, the rates of petrol and diesel were not increased for four months, the rates were very high than normal at petrol prices over Rs 100 per liter and diesel prices over Rs 90 per liter in Odisha and other states of India as well.
However, in the last 8 days, there have been 7 successive increases in petrol and diesel prices. Therefore, the prices have increased from an elevated number burning pockets of middle-class families and business people of Odisha as well as India.
As per the latest report, petrol and diesel prices were hiked by 86 and 74 paise a liter respectively in the State. The fresh hike makes petrol and diesel cost Rs 107.11 and Rs 96.83 a liter respectively in the State Capital Bhubaneswar.
“The continuous rise in fuel prices has severely affected the middle class as the market has been hit by running inflation. It has become difficult for us to keep a balance in our budget and make our ends meet,” said a person in Bhubaneswar.
