On Monday, Additional District and Sessions Judge Anirban Das dismissed the CBI’s request for the death penalty for Sanjay Roy, stating that the crime did not qualify as “rarest of the rare.”
“The CBI sought the death penalty, while the defense argued for a prison sentence instead.
