On Sunday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated ace shuttler Pramod Bhagat on winning gold at the BWF World Championship. The Chief Minister tweeted: “Congratulations to #Odisha’s star para shuttler Pramod Bhagat for winning #Gold for India at the #BWF Para Badminton World Championship in #Tokyo.” May you reach even greater heights and make the country and Odisha proud. “Best wishes for your future matches.”

Ace shuttler Pramod Bhagat successfully defended his singles gold at the BWF Para Badminton World Championships in Tokyo, defeating India’s Nitish Kumar in the finals. He also took silver in the Men’s Doubles event with Manoj Sarkar. Pramod Bhagat won the men’s singles SL3 event by defeating compatriot Nitesh Kumar 21-19, 21-19 in 53 minutes. The match was fiercely contested, but Pramod kept his cool and had an answer for everything Nitesh threw at him.

In the men’s doubles, Pramod and his partner Manoj Sarkar were defeated in three sets by Indonesia’s Hikmat Ramdani and Ukun Rukaendi. The final score was 21-14, 18-21, 13-21. Furthermore, with the exception of the 2007 and 2017 World Championships, Pramod has reached the finals in all editions.
