Today, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik opened the air tickets to Singapore and Bangkok, making it easier for residents of Odisha to visit these destinations in south-east Asia at a reasonable cost. As a result, Odisha is now a leader and the first state in the nation to promote and launch international air connectivity in the public interest. According to a formal press announcement, Indigo Airlines will start international direct flights to Singapore and Bangkok on June 3, 2023. The Chief Minister already announced the beginning of ticket sales for direct flights to Dubai, which will take place on May 15.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Patnaik said that the program will provide work possibilities for young people in Odisha, unlock the state’s tourist potential, and strengthen the IT and ITES industries there. He declared that today is a historic day for all of us since Indigo has begun selling tickets from Bhubaneswar to Singapore and Bangkok. I recently started selling tickets to Dubai. With this, Odisha is now connected to the most cosmopolitan Asian cities, providing our people with access to a whole new universe of potential. He added that Odisha has had tremendous development in aircraft traffic over the past several years.
Despite a noticeable improvement in domestic flight connectivity, the Odisha government has stepped forward to provide a sizable contribution to ensure direct international flight connectivity between Bhubaneswar and top destinations, he added. He anticipated that these foreign flights will boost trade and tourism while also offering visitors more convenient and reasonably priced travel choices. He expressed his gratitude for the cooperation of the Government of India, Indigo Airlines, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Senior members of the Odisha government, representatives from Indigo, Chief Secretary PK Jena, Secretary to CM 5T VK Pandian, and other bureaucrats were present.
