CM Naveen To Lay Foundation Of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Metro Rail Project On Jan 1

Following the orders of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Chairman 5T & Nabin Odisha VK Pandian examined the progress of the proposed Metro Rail project, which would link the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, with senior officials. Through Chandrasekharpur, Jaydev Vihar, Vani Vihar, Master Canteen, and Rajmahal Square, the first phase of the Metro Rail project will link Bhubaneswar Airport with Trisulia Square.

Pandian facilitated discussions and made decisions to ensure that the Metro Rail project could start on schedule. On April 1, 2023, the Chief Minister announced the project on Odisha Dibas, for which the government has approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR). Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. is creating a master plan to expand the Metro Rail service to towns of Khordha, Puri, and Cuttack as well as to other parts of Bhubaneswar.

Trisulia will become a major hub for traffic serving the cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. It will also serve as the entry point to the Twin City for people coming from the Banki and Athagarh sides. The command and control center, maintenance facilities, and train stabling facilities will all be built close to Trisulia Square, which is also the location of the Metro Rail project’s central depot. At Trisulia Square, a new bus stand is being built. It will eventually be expanded and connected with the Metro station.
