Congress Calls For Seven-Hour Odisha Bandh On February 15 Over Rising Fuel Price

The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) has called for Odisha Bandh on 15th February to protest against the rising fuel prices and the shutdown will begin from 7am and will continue to till 1pm.

OPCC President Niranjan Patnaik informed about the bandh and declared that there will be a seven-hour Odisha shut down on 15th February to protest against the rising prices of petrol and diesel.

Patnaik further stated that the Centre and Odisha Government are responsible for the rise in the fuel prices and because of which the Congress will observe Odisha band. During the seven-hour Odisha shutdown, all the vehicles will not work, all the shops will remain closed and there will be no public movements during the period.

He further informed that his party is very well aware of the difficulties which the common people will face during the bandh but there is no alternative solution or way-out to protest against the government’s regular habit of hiking the fuel prices. He seeks the support of the public and asked them that they are protesting in favor of the public as the rise in fuel prices affects the common people.

Patnaik said that the state government should reduce tax on petrol and diesel to give some relief to the people who are already sustaining hardship due to the pandemic. He also alleges that the State government and Centre government are imposing unreasonable taxes on petrol and diesel, leading to a steep hike in fuel prices that in turn resulted in an increase in the prices of other essential commodities.
