The state government has taken all the required steps to guarantee an incident-free Rath Yatra in the holy town of Puri this year, which starts on June 27, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi promised on Sunday. “Our first and only aim is to ensure an incident-free Rath Yatra event,” CM Majhi stated during a high-level review meeting on security preparations that was conducted in Puri. According to what the officials have told me, every precaution that is required to ensure that there are no incidents has been taken.
He also added that one of the biggest prerequisites to making the Rath Yatra incident-free is the deployment of an adequate number of police personnel and administrative staff. Chief Minister Majhi stated that a lack of manpower must not be a reason for any foreseeable incident. The Chief Minister also highlighted that the Odisha Police will be using artificial intelligence and drone technology during the Rath Yatra, which is very important to take swift action and avoid any untoward incident. CM Majhi, in his address, also advised the authorities to be more vigilant during Rath Yatra, Suna Besha (Golden Attire), and Bahuda Yatra (Return Car Festival).
According to him, the relevant authorities have been counseled to take the required actions to send out a sufficient number of traffic and fire service workers. To prevent any unpleasant incidents, watchtowers and high-rise buildings along the Bada Danda (great route) must keep strict crowd monitoring using binoculars. CM Majhi further mentioned that the government is thinking of using NSG (National Security Guard) snipers. In order to prevent stampede-like events during the Rath Yatra, which is anticipated to see a massive assembly of devotees, he said steps will be taken to curb the spread of rumors.
Following Operation Sindoor, the Chief Minister stated that the required measures had been taken to address any potential terrorist danger during the automobile festival. In order to minimize fire incidents, Chief Minister Majhi urged the authorities to concentrate particularly on prohibiting food preparation at wayside restaurants along the Grand Road.
