What are your thoughts on the statement on the 70-hour work cultural? Will it be beneficial or will it lower employee morale?
I believe that people are interpreting this statement incorrectly. Mr. Narayana Murthy is trying to convey that hard work is necessary in the early stages of a career to establish credibility, which may require sacrificing some aspects of your personal life. However, if you enjoy your work, it doesn’t matter if you put in 70 hours or more—what matters is that you are doing something you enjoy. I believe that by concentrating on the number, people overlook the real meaning of the statement.
In your opinion in , what ways should the organization, priorities the emotional and physical well-being of its employees while fostering a collaborative work culture?
We are basically sitting on a ticking time bomb when it comes to mental health. We have no idea what kinds of mental health issues the employees are dealing with, and many individuals are reluctant to talk about mental health issues.
Organizations must thus foster a culture in which employees feel comfortable discussing mental health issues if they encounter difficulties. In my opinion, here is where the majority of organization’s are trying to shield their employees’ minds from unnecessary attention and distraction. The HR department’s primary goal should be to assess the mental health of its employees, and facilities should be provided for them to discuss this.
