Dr. Patel’s academic journey began at the esteemed Medical College, Baroda, under the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, where he earned both his M.B.B.S. and M.D. in Pharmacology. Yet, instead of treading a conventional medical career path, he turned his attention to the broader mission of empowering youth through education. With a deep belief that talent is abundant across India’s diverse regions, he envisioned an ecosystem that could harness this potential through quality education and skill-based learning.
As President of Parul University, he has overseen the establishment of state-of-the-art institutions across disciplines — from engineering and management to medicine and the arts. His belief in building not just professionals but future-ready global citizens has shaped the university’s approach to pedagogy, with a strong focus on research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and community engagement.
One of the cornerstones of his leadership has been his emphasis on research-driven growth. At the same time, he has remained deeply rooted in societal responsibility. During the COVID-19 pandemic, his leadership extended beyond the campus. He led efforts that contributed over ₹28 lakhs to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and raised ₹10 lakhs through crowdfunding to support daily wage earners. His approach to leadership is holistic — combining academic excellence with compassion and social accountability.
Recognising the changing dynamics of employment and the rise of entrepreneurial ecosystems, Dr. Patel launched the Entrepreneurship Development Cell at Parul University. Through this initiative, he has fostered a culture of innovation, enabling students to think beyond job-seeking and become job creators. Numerous startup events and mentoring sessions under this cell have already ignited the entrepreneurial spirit among the university’s students.
He is also a strong proponent of lifelong learning.
