Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has strongly criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his claims regarding the addition of 70 lakh voters to Maharashtra’s electoral rolls between the Lok Sabha and state elections. Gandhi had questioned the integrity of the state’s elections, suggesting that the addition was equivalent to the population of Himachal Pradesh.
Fadnavis responded by accusing Gandhi of insulting the people of Maharashtra, a land of historical figures like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Mahatma Phule, and Veer Savarkar. “Instead of introspecting, you are indulging in slander. The people of Maharashtra won’t forgive you for this. Apologize, Mr. Rahul Gandhi!” he posted on X.
Gandhi, while addressing the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address, questioned the legitimacy of the November assembly elections, in which the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance emerged victorious.
