DGP Holds Preparatory Meeting For Rath Yatra

Today, the world-famous Rath Yatra conducted a preparation briefing on security arrangements, presided over by Director General of Police (DGP) Arun Kumar Sarangi. At the police headquarters in Cuttack, the DGP met with the senior police officers and gave them instructions to be aggressive in raising the vigil for the major religious festival in Puri.

Sarangi instructed the officers to be extremely vigilant because this year’s Rath Yatra will host several VVIPs, such as Governor Raghubar Das, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and President Droupadi Murmu. Rath Yatra, Netra Utsav, and Naba Jouban Darshan are some of the important rites of Lord Jagannath and his siblings. Bahuda Yatra is scheduled for July 15, Suna Besha for July 17, and Niladri Bije on July 19.

The festival’s security arrangements were discussed in the discussion. In addition to full proof security, senior officers would be involved in special activity, according to a press release from police headquarters. The following units will be mobilized: counterintelligence squads, HHMD, DMFD, metal detectors, and bomb disposal squads. There will be special preparations taken for the protection of VVIPs. There will be CCTV cameras placed at key locations throughout the town. There will be more patrols on the beach. For efficient vehicular traffic, arrangements for traffic zones, road dividers, and delineators will be made. For the pilgrims, temporary police outposts will be erected in the town.
