Politicians and celebrities lauded him for setting a “one-of-a-kind example.” Politicians and celebrities have hailed and complimented former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala, who announced on Tuesday that he had completed his Class 10 and Class 12 examinations at the age of 87. On Tuesday, he collected his mark sheets from the Haryana board in Chandigarh. Chautala took his class 12th exams in 2021 and passed it with flying colours. His marksheets, however, were withheld since he had yet to pass the class 10th English examination. He took the Class 10 test in order to get his Class 12 results released.Chautala took his Class 10 exams from the National Institute of Open School in 2017 at the age of 82. He received 53.4% for his subjects of Urdu, Science, Social Studies, and Indian Culture and Heritage. His final scores were affected by a backlog in the English language paper. In the case of the unlawful recruitment of 3,206 junior basic teachers in 2000, O P Chautala, his son Ajay Chautala, and 53 others, including IAS official Sanjiv Kumar, were convicted and jailed. A special CBI court convicted them all to varied prison sentences in the case in January 2013. Om Prakash Chautala was later freed from Tihar Prison, where he was serving a ten-year sentence for a teacher recruitment fraud.
