Drivers' Protest In Odisha Takes Violent Turn

The ongoing drivers’ protest in Odisha due to the unfulfillment of their 10 point demands has taken a violent turn today. The drivers have earlier promised that the protest will be peaceful. However, on Monday, they took a violent turn, as per the reports from DCP Dr Umashankar Dash.

Taking strict note of the activities of the protesters during the Driver Mahasangha protest, three cases have been lodged by Bhubaneswar UPD. The CCTV footage is being examined, and action will be taken against the trouble makers, said Dash.

“The Commissionerate of Police was aware of the protest and the Mahasangh had committed that they would remain on the city outskirts, while their leaders would come into Bhubaneswar to hold a discussion on their demands. But the leaders lost control of the Mahasangh members, many of whom resorted to vandalism,” the DCP added.

Some vehicles have been damaged, and common public trouble and ruckus due to traffic congestion were commonplace in Bhubaneswar on Monday, as the Drivers from across Odisha, resorted to unlawful activities at many places. The police said that strict action will be initiated against anyone from any part of the State.
