Ekta Kapoor becomes the first Indian to receive Emmy Award

Ekta Kapoor, a well-known Indian producer and filmmaker, will be presented with the prestigious International Emmy Directorate Award at the 51st International Emmy Awards ceremony in November for her substantial contribution to the arts and entertainment sector.
Ekta herself announced the good news on social media. “Overflowing with humility and exhilaration as I receive this recognition,” she wrote in a note.

The award has a special place in my heart since it represents a journey that goes beyond work. It is an honour beyond words to be able to represent my country on such a prestigious platform. Television has been my compass for self-discovery, particularly as a woman writing stories for other women. This honour enables me to advocate for them and our collective accomplishments on a worldwide scale. Thank you for the International Emmy® Directorate Award for 2023.”Ekta has previously produced some of the most well-known TV programmes, like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhie Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kkusum, and Kasautii Zindagii Kay.Meanwhile, Bruce L. Paisner, President and CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, stated in a statement, “Ekta R. Kapoor has built Balaji into one of India’s foremost entertainment players with market leadership in the television content industry reaching mass audiences across India and South Asia with their long running series and OTT platform.” We look forward to honouring her extraordinary career and impact on the television business with our Directorate Award.”
