The ‘One Nation, One Election’ Bill has been on the BJP government’s agenda since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office. Since its conception, the concept of simultaneous elections has been the topic of heated discussion, with several parties opposing it. Though the government has not released the legislative schedule for the upcoming Parliament session, there is suspicion that this Bill would be introduced. A constitutional amendment will be required to pass the Bill.
