Born and raised in Tulasipur, Cuttack, Piyush grew up in a warm and nurturing family. His father, Rabindra Kumar Mohanty, worked as an interpreter and publisher in a missionary organization, instilling in him the values of hard work and integrity. After completing his schooling at Tulasipur High School, he pursued higher secondary education in Arts at Christ College. Even in his early years, Piyush was driven by an innate curiosity and an entrepreneurial spirit that would shape his future.
Following his Plus II exams, Piyush moved to Mumbai, where his elder brother was working. Enchanted by the city’s vibrancy, he aspired to build a career there. He landed a job at a courier company and quickly gained recognition for his efficiency. Within days, he was considered for a managerial position, but his qualifications fell short of the requirements. Undeterred by this setback, he resolved to further his education, eventually completing his graduation. This experience instilled in him a crucial lesson—success demands persistence and continuous learning.
Upon returning to Odisha, Piyush set out in search of a job and was soon recruited by a Bhubaneswar-based company for a marketing position. His keen business acumen allowed him to take on multiple roles, including purchasing, supervising, and production management. This hands-on experience provided him with invaluable insights into the workings of an enterprise. With a growing confidence in his capabilities, he made a bold decision—to invest his savings and establish his own business.
Cuttack was facing a growing environmental crisis due to the pollution caused by traditional clay brick kilns. The smoke-filled air troubled Piyush, and he saw an opportunity to introduce a more sustainable alternative. With his savings and industry experience, he founded Nexus Engineering, specializing in the production of brick-laying machines. His first workspace—a modest workshop in Jagatpur Industrial Estate—became the launchpad for his ambitious vision. Through perseverance and expertise, he overcame initial hurdles and steadily expanded his operations.
Under Piyush’s leadership, Nexus Engineering has grown into a reputable name in the industry. The company’s high-quality machinery not only meets local demand but has also made its mark in other states. With growing success, Nexus has even expanded into international markets, exceeding expectations. Looking ahead, the company is poised to launch an initiative in paver block manufacturing, aimed at generating employment and addressing migration issues in Odisha.
Piyush envisions an Odisha that is both industrially advanced and environmentally conscious. His goal extends beyond business growth—he is committed to fostering entrepreneurship and creating employment opportunities for the youth. He actively mentors aspiring entrepreneurs, guiding them toward building their own enterprises, thereby contributing to the state’s economic progress.
With the state government’s ban on red bricks and increasing subsidies for eco-friendly alternatives, the fly ash industry has gained prominence. Piyush has been at the forefront of this shift, promoting sustainable construction practices. Nexus Engineering plays a key role in this transition, manufacturing high-quality fly ash brick machines that align with the government’s green initiatives.
For Piyush, inspiration comes from a higher power. “I firmly believe in karma and the boundless energy that faith brings,” he says. However, his biggest competition, he asserts, is himself. “Every day, I strive to be better than the day before, constantly refining my skills and outlook.” He firmly believes that “Change begins from within.”
Piyush’s message to young dreamers is clear—”Develop an entrepreneurial mindset. Instead of seeking jobs, create them.” He encourages aspiring business leaders to “think innovatively, challenge conventional ideas, and execute ordinary tasks in extraordinary ways.” According to him, “A business should not just generate profits but also serve the community and uplift society as a whole.”

His personal mission is to give back to society, uplift the underprivileged, and contribute to the betterment of his homeland.
