Saroj Kumar Panda, one of the Directors of M/s Odyssa Homes & Commercials Pvt Ltd, was detained on Thursday by the Economic Offences Wing in Bhubaneswar for defrauding Rs 9 crore under the guise of offering customers commercial units. Saroj Kumar Panda is from Jeypore in the Koraput region of Odisha.
At the EOW police station, a case (No.09 dated 07.03.2023) was opened in accordance with Sections 420/467/468/471/120-B IPC and Section 6 of the OPID Act. On Thursday, the accused was brought before the appropriate court under OPID in Cuttack.
The aforementioned case was filed as a result of a written complaint made by Kalyan Mishra of IRC Village, Bhubaneswar against the directors of M/s Odyssa Homes & Commercials Pvt Ltd for allegedly misappropriating millions of rupees through dishonest means in order to provide commercial units in Ashok Nagar, Bhubaneswar.
‘Maa Basudha Homes’, Kharvel Nagar, Bhubaneswar, represented by its owner Snigdha Pradhan, entered into an agreement and registered a power of attorney with five land owners for the development and building of a commercial complex during the year 2012 on a sharing basis. The accused Saroj Kumar Panda was one of the company’s directors. Subsequently, Maa Basudha Homes and M/s Odyssa Homes & Commercials Pvt Ltd entered into a collaboration agreement for the development, construction, marketing, and acceptance of booking amounts for the sale of commercial units without including the share of land owners.
