Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli has allegedly assaulted and abused his wife at their home in the Bandra suburb while intoxicated, according to a Mumbai Police official. According to him, no one has been arrested as of yet in relation to the alleged incident that happened on Friday. According to a Bandra police station employee, Andrea Kambli, Kambli’s wife, claimed in a police complaint that Kambli struck her in the head with the handle of a cooking pan.
The incident happened on Friday between 1 and 1.30 pm when Kambli allegedly entered his flat while intoxicated and began verbally harassing his wife, according to him. The official quoted the complaint as saying that when their 12-year-old son tried to break up the argument, Kambli went into the kitchen, retrieved the handle of a broken frying pan, and reportedly hurled it on his wife, injuring her. Later, Kambli’s wife went for a checkup at the Bhabha Hospital.The official claims that on Friday, the Bandra police reported Kambli for violating IPC Sections 504 (intentional insult with the purpose to cause disturbance of peace) and 324. (voluntary causing hurt with dangerous weapons).
