The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a march on Saturday from Samantarapur Chowk to the block office in Bhubaneswar in protest of the significant irregularities in the distribution of homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). As they attempted to force their way into the block office, they got into a fight with the cops.
The Saffron Party’s State Unit has been pressuring the State government by alleging widespread irregularities in the distribution of dwellings to PMAY applicants.
In support of this, party leaders and supporters staged a gathering at Samantarapur Chowk and marched toward the block office while yelling anti-BJD chants. A demonstration at the block office marked the rally’s conclusion. Later, the agitators attempted to forcefully enter the block office, which resulted in an altercation between the officers stationed there. “The Prime Minister has already given nearly 27 lakh dwellings with the goal of providing poor people with a roof over their heads. But in this instance, the 23-year-old administration is dispersing homes among its own employees. According to Babu Singh, the president of the BJP in the Bhubaneswar district, “Those who have buildings are getting residences.”
BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan attacked the government harshly, declaring that “irregularities are occurring. However, the claims are being ignored by current administration. In the days to come, it will pay dearly. People will respond appropriately in the upcoming days.”The government of Odisha requested 27,00,000 homes. However, the Modi administration has donated 27,58,000 homes. However, the ineligible beneficiaries have been given the houses. The BJD party workers have even been given residences, he claimed.Sampad Kumar Dalei, the BDO for Bhubaneswar, was able to appease the protesters and calm the situation.
“We had questioned every doctor’s staff about other doctors’ practises. Following thorough investigation, we released the beneficiary list. Later, complaints were encouraged. After receiving complaints, we double-checked and removed all of the beneficiaries’ names. Therefore, only those recipients who qualify will receive the houses. There is no chance that beneficiaries who are ineligible will receive homes, according to the BDO.
