Former Chief Justice S Muralidhar of the Orissa High Court Named a Senior Advocate

Justice S. Muralidhar, the retired chief justice of the Orissa High Court, will now practice law in the Supreme Court as a Senior Advocate, according to the top court’s designation. In a full court meeting on October 16, the Chief Justice of India and the Supreme Court judges bestowed the designation.

The designation is made in accordance with the Supreme Court of India’s Guidelines for Designation of Senior Advocates, 2023, which were created in response to the ruling in the matter of Ms. Indira Jaising v. Supreme Court of India, through Secretary General, which was rendered on May 12, 2023.

Justice (Dr) S Muralidhar had retired in August this year. He had served as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court between January 2021 and August 2023. He had also served as a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and Delhi High Court during his long tenure.
