From a fam of 10k to almost 90k now, Bhaskar Raha aka Hungrie Young Man has proved that hardwork, dedication and consistency pays.

Bhaskar Raha is the first food vlogger to create food vlogs with English voiceover in Odisha. The magnificent journey that started in 2017 from home kitchen is a familiar name today, not only in Bhubaneswar but also in Odisha when it comes to food.

Interview Times had a great interview with Bhaskar. Here is the mouth-watery session.

Why Food Vlog? What inspired you?

Well, to be honest, I wasn’t really inspired to go into food vlogging. So, basically back in 2017 I started posting my homecooked meals and people started admiring. So the journey started then and is still blooming.

What’s the best and worst thing about being a food vlogger?

Talking about the best thing about food vlogging is you get to try and explore a lot of different cuisines. But worst thing is it takes a toll on your health if you don’t control the diet.

What are your favorite regional cuisines or specific foods?

I will always choose Indian cuisine anove all. But being specific, it’s always Bengali and Odia cuisine since my family comes from both cultures.

What do your friends and family think of your life as an influencer?

First of all, i don’t consider myself as an influencer. I consider myself a vlogger. Life as a vlogger has been good. My close friends feel very proud of my achievements. They say things like their relatives or their friends know me and watch my videos. Same goes with family. They don’t watch all my videos but they are very proud.

Do you consider food vlogging as a full-time job?

It kind of feels like a full time job but it’s more of a hobby now. 50 percent hobby 50 percent passion.

There are many players in your space in Odisha, so what makes “hungrie young man” different?

Talking about ‘ Hungrie Young Man’, I was the first to start English voiceover food vlogs in Odisha. As per now, there are more than 120+ food review videos. It’s as different as it can be!

What’s the story behind ‘ Hungrie Young Man’ ?

The story began back in 2017 after my graduation. I started with posting simple thali pictures. The growth was visible my Instagram hit 10k followers in just a short span of 5 months.

Then the journey was quite amusing. In 2018, i did some variations with thali + street food reviews. (Hit 25k by end of 2018).

In 2019, it was the same, just with a better camera. (35k by End of 2019).

In 2020, during lockdown, it was homecooked meals and recipes through pictures. ( Hit 40k by March’20).

2021, during wave 2 of corona, i was spending good amount of time watching vlogs in YouTube and i thought when covid situation ended, i would start Vlogging too. ( Page Growth had stopped for almost entire 2021).

Spent good amount of money, Got a good camera and even made few videos but the problem was, i was too camera conscious. Couldn’t speak much as people started looking. Plus, the longer the video, the more time it takes in editing and shooting. So, due to lack of time, i decided not to vlog. Got frustrated, took a break and thought to make a review video with just voiceover. I always knew I could do voiceovers. Infact, many recipe videos in past, were voiceovers.

Oct’2021, Made a short review reel of Bijay Dhaba and that review video, changed everything!

So, some of my favourite Odia cuisine had to be Macha Besara, Oou Khata , Potala rassa and chenna tarkari.
