Government of Andhra Pradesh to build Hindu Temples


The government claims that the building of shrines has been undertaken in a significant manner in the state, with an aim to ensuring that every district in Andhra Pradesh has a temple. According to Deputy CM Kottu Satyanarayana, this programme was announced to defend and promote the Hindu faith on the orders of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. For the construction of each temple, the Sri Vani Trust of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, which was founded to build Sri Venkateswara Swamy temples at various locations throughout India, has allotted Rs 10 lakh.

The state government has already announced that construction of 1,330 temples would begin. There are now 1,465 more temples on this list. In addition, 200 other temples will be built across the state at the request of specific lawmakers. The state’s deputy chief minister said, “The construction of the recently added temples and the ones requested by the individual legislators would be done with the help of voluntary organisations.In a release on Tuesday, Satyanaraya, who is also the Endowments Minister, stated that construction of Hindu temples in the areas of weaker sections had been started in an effort to protect and spread the Hindu faith on a large scale.With the assistance of other charitable organisations, the remaining temples will be built.

The minister claims that the Endowments Department is in charge of building 978 temples, and that an associate engineer has been assigned to work on each of the 25 temples. 238 crore of the 270 crore CGF money allocated to restore some temples and to carry out ceremonies in temples have been made available. As previously reported, Andhra Pradesh experienced roughly 228 temple attacks in 2020, 305 in 2019, 267 in 2018, 318 in 2017, 332 in 2016, and 290 in 2015. Furthermore in September 2020, the YS Jagan administration disbanded 2500 temple trusts throughout the state, which is prohibited by the Endowments Act.
