‘Halal’ or ‘Jhatka’? SDMC directs to make mention of halal or jhatka meat mandatory in Delhi restaurants

In South Delhi, restaurants serving customers will now serve non-veg food, according to their preferences. It allows customers to know the food served to them is ‘halal’ or ‘jhatka’. So politics has now begun with the system that is about to begin.

So far, “halal” has been written on meat imported into the country. So non-Muslims were forced to accept it.

The Agriculture and Refined Food Export Development Authority (APDA) has ordered the removal of halal words from such food packets. There are a total of three municipal corporations in South, North and East Delhi. The South Delhi Corporation is BJP-occupied. The Delhi government is therefore linking the city council’s directives to politics. The BJP, however, calls it a matter of personal freedom.

Municipal Mayor Anamika Mithilesh has questioned why a Hindu would eat halal animals. “That’s what we’ve been thinking about for a long time,” she said. “Why can’t people of other faiths decide if a particular community can decide for itself according to its own standards,” she said.

In the South Delhi Municipal Corporation area, 900 restaurants are serving non-vegan food. So if they prepare food knowing the customer’s wishes before they serve any food to the customer, the customer will not have to worry about the food after eating, ”the mayor said.
