Varanasi police in Uttar Pradesh have filed a case against 19 people, including Sundar Pichai, the chief executive officer or CEO of popular search engine Google. Later his name has been removed.
According to a police official, the names of three senior Google officials including Sundar Pichai have been removed from the case. The case is being re-assigned to another judge. The complainant claimed that a video had surfaced on the WhatsApp app in October. In which there was offensive remarks on Prime minister Narendra Modi. The video was later released on YouTube, which has been viewed more than 500,000 times. So he filed the case.
The case was registered at the Velupura Police Station on February 6 in the name of three Google India officials, including Sanjay Kumar, in addition to Sundar Pichai.
A police officer in Velupura said the Google officer’s name was removed from the FIR on the same day and the case is still pending in the name of the rest of the people.
