In a stunning reversal of fortunes, Harbour Diamonds have become the first team to secure a semifinal spot in the men’s Bengal Pro T20 League 2025. From losing every game in the inaugural season to now topping the league stage with 10 points from 7 matches, their transformation has been nothing short of sensational.
On a rain-affected Tuesday evening at Eden Gardens, the Diamonds produced a clinical all-round performance to defeat Shrachi Rarh Tigers by 18 runs in a 9-over-per-side clash.
Batting first after being put in, Harbour Diamonds posted a competitive 87/8, thanks to a blazing start from opener Abhishek Raman, who smashed 32 off just 15 balls. Rahul Prasad added a quickfire unbeaten 16 off 7 deliveries to lift the score late in the innings. For the Rarh Tigers, Pritam Chakraborty (3/16) and Ravi Kumar (3/19) bowled with intent, while Ayan Bhattacharya chipped in with two wickets.
In reply, the Tigers’ chase never gained full momentum despite a valiant 33-run knock by Gaurav Chauhan. Tight bowling from the Diamonds, especially by Balkesh Yadav who picked up two crucial wickets, restricted the Tigers to 69/5 in their allotted 9 overs.
With this commanding win, Harbour Diamonds completed their league campaign with 5 victories out of 7, a feat that guarantees them a spot in the final four. It’s a powerful statement from a team that has rewritten its narrative with grit, teamwork, and consistency.
The Diamonds now await their semifinal opponents as the race intensifies for the remaining spots.
