On Friday, September 15, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu gave the “Aapda Rahat Kosh” a donation of almost Rs 51 lakh from his funds to help those affected by the calamity in the hill state.
At Oak Over here, the Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena received a cheque for Rs. 51 lakh from the Chief Minister and his wife Kamlesh Thakur. His own funds as well as the savings of his wife, two daughters, and himself are included in the bequest.Sukhu said in a statement to the media, “I could well understand the pain of the people and their plight during the recent monsoon fury in the state in which more than 260 precious lives were lost.”
400 individuals lost their lives as a result of the relentless monsoon rains, cloud bursts, flash floods, and landslides, which also caused damage to nearly 13,000 homes. There are thousands of homeless families. Government estimates indicate that the State experienced losses in excess of Rs. 12,000 crore.In the meantime, Priyanka Gandhi, the general secretary of the Congress party, wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to request that the Union government proclaim the natural disaster that struck Himachal Pradesh a “national disaster”.He went on to emphasise the society’s overall endeavour to unite during these challenging times.
