According to an official bulletin, the water level of Hirakud Dam was 629.67 feet as of 6 p.m. on Sunday. Five sluice gates were still open to control the reservoir’s water discharge. Three of the five open gates are on the dam’s left side, and two are on its right. According to the three-hourly report, the reservoir had an average inflow of 1,17,682 cusecs and an average outflow of 85,915 cusecs. Additionally, it showed a rising tendency in outflow and a decreasing trend in inflow.

The spillway released 50,221 cusecs of the total water discharge, while the power channel released 31,316 cusecs. 4,141 cusecs were released through several canals, and 237 cusecs were supplied for industrial use. 3,722 cusecs were received by the Baragada Main Canal (BMC), comprising 3,400 cusecs via the main canal and 322 cusecs via the Godbhaga distributary.

In a same vein, 69 cusecs were discharged by the SBP distributary while 350 cusecs were received by the Sambalpur Main Canal (SMC). Seven cusecs were assigned to the Hirakud canal and 62 cusecs to the SBP canal. While keeping an eye on the inflow and outflow conditions, the dam authorities are controlling the discharge through the five open sluice gates.
