FROM TATA TISCON REBARS TO INDIA’S FIRST TJK SUPERFLEX WELDMESH LINE
From a single-product distributor to India’s first TJK Superflex weldmesh line, the Managing Director of Sagar Business Ventures Limited is steering a 1983-incorporated firm toward a Rs 1,500 crore vision.

Sunil Kishorepuria, Managing Director of Sagar Business Ventures Limited (SBVL), has built a business that spans distribution, fabrication and advanced steel processing, positioning the company as a key player in Odisha’s growing construction and engineering ecosystem. With over four decades of heritage and a fast-expanding portfolio, SBVL is now setting its sights on a Rs 1,500 crore enterprise under Vision 2030.
From its early days as a single-product distributor to launching India’s first TJK Superflex weldmesh line in 2026, the company’s journey reflects Kishorepuria’s focus on innovation, scale and long-term value creation. With new investments, a stronger dealer network and forays into green technology, SBVL aims to deepen its presence in India and beyond, while contributing to Odisha’s emergence as a major steel engineering and infrastructure hub.
A LEGACY FORGED IN STEEL
Sunil Kishorepuria leads Sagar Business Ventures Limited (SBVL) as Managing Director. The company was incorporated in 1983, and its current operational scale dates to 2009.
The firm traces its roots to the Kishorepuria family of Bihar, whose steel legacy, per the company, spans more than seven decades. Company records list him as a director since December 2008. His LinkedIn profile also lists Schiller International University London in his education.
FROM DISTRIBUTOR TO INDUSTRIAL BUILDER
Kishorepuria recalls that the company began its Odisha journey about fifteen years ago as a single-product distributor.
In 2011, it became Project Distributor for Tata Tiscon TMT in Odisha and launched Cut & Bend services. It added the Tata Structura and Tata Wire partnerships in 2012, and refractory solutions in 2015.
The model has since moved beyond selling steel, towards engineering-led fabrication and processing.
TANGI: THE HEART OF THE OPERATION
The firm’s flagship facility sits at Tangi in Cuttack district. Tata Steel inaugurated it in 2023 as Odisha’s first fully automated construction service centre, built with Sagar Business as a channel partner.
The company upgraded its Cut & Bend plant to 3,000 MT a month in 2023 with Italian-made Schnell machinery and began making welded wire mesh. It also runs a fabrication unit in Kharagpur, opened in 2021.
INDIA’S FIRST SUPERFLEX LINE
On 7 May 2026, SBVL unveiled India’s first TJK Superflex weldmesh line with Tata Steel.
It produces mesh up to 3.3 metres wide, against the industry’s conventional 2.4 metres, for RCC walls built with aluminium formwork.
The 10-acre unit involved an initial investment of around Rs 70 crore, with about Rs 12 crore for the Superflex line, and has a starting capacity of 1,000 metric tonnes a month.
Kishorepuria described it as the start of an integrated engineering ecosystem in Odisha.

VISION 2030 AND THE RS 100 CRORE BET
The launch is part of Vision 2030, which aims to scale SBVL into a Rs 1,500 crore enterprise.
The company has announced a further Rs 100 crore over four years to expand steel processing. Director Sriyash Kishorepuria said the plans include solar mounting structures, lattice girder decking, shipping containers, bore pile cages, C and Z purlins, fire safety systems and doors, and battery storage systems.
RECOGNITION AND A NEW GENERATION
SBVL won “Excellence in Engineering and Infrastructure Solutions” at the Times Icons of Odisha 2026.
Kishorepuria and the company’s CEO received the award. Shourya Varun Kishorepuria was appointed CEO in October 2024.
The company says its network spans 400+ dealers.
BEYOND STEEL
SBVL is also moving into green technology.
As Eastern India partner of Thermogreen Cool, it is finalising plans with the company for two manufacturing plants, one in Odisha and one in the Middle East.
The cooling coating technology was developed with IIT Bombay.
