IFFCO Ranks Number 1 Among Top 300 Cooperatives Of The World

The Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) is among the most significant cooperative institutions globally with more than 363,000 member cooperatives and a group turnover of nearly 7 billion dollars.

As per the report, IFFCO has stepped up to the 65th position in overall turnover ranking from 125th position in the last financial year. Now among the 300 companies globally, IFFCO is at the top spot with more than 363,000 member cooperatives.

As per the official press release, the ranking is based on turnover ratio over the gross domestic product (GDP) per capita.

IFFCO, in an official statement, said that being in the top position signifies that IFFCO is contributing significantly to the GDP and economic growth of the nation. According to the 2020 edition of the 9th Annual World Cooperative Monitor (WCM) report published by International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), it reports the enterprise’s turnover to the country’s wealth.

Dr U S Awasthi, MD, IFFCO expressed happiness and stated that this moment is a proud moment for IFFCO and cooperatives. This is the outstanding achievement for all the people in the Indian cooperative movement, and at IFFCO the people are always committed to the growth of farmers across the country and is also strengthening the Indian Cooperative movement.

He further stated that innovation is the key to every success. He also congratulated everyone who is at IFFCO and the entire fraternity of India for this significant achievement.

During the International webinar, the 2020 edition of the World Cooperative Monitor was launched by the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) and the European Research Institute on Cooperative and Social Enterprises (Euricse).

The report is the 9th annual one and traverses the most comprehensive cooperatives and mutual worldwide economic and social repercussions, providing a ranking of the Top 300, sector rankings, and an analysis of responses to the current global challenges: COVID-19 and climate change.
