On Sunday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for a number of locations across 17 districts in the state of Odisha for the ensuing 24 hours. According to the IMD regional office, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal districts from Sunday till Monday morning.
For a few locations across the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Rayagada, and Koraput, as well as in one or two locations over the remaining districts of Odisha during the time, light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are predicted. Between April 10 am and April 11 morning, a thunderstorm and lightning warning has also been issued for one or two locations across the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
Coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts are all expected to have mild to moderate rain or thunderstorms during the course of the next 72 hours. Between April 11 morning and April 12 morning, light to moderate rain or thunderstorms may also happen in one or two locations in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Malkangiri. Over the next two to three days, it is doubtful that the maximum temperature (daytime temperature) will vary significantly; nevertheless, a few locations in Odisha can expect an increase of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.
