Vaishnavi Mungse was born in Maharashtra, India. Along with writing she carry on her journey with designing and drawing. She never gave up on her writing and would like to continue her writing journey. Recently she published her book ‘Shades of Life’ with ‘The Write Order Publications.’ Below are the answers she responded to Interview Times questionnaire:-

Q1-Was writing a book always on your bucket list?

Answer- Yes, writing a book has always been on my bucket list. Ever since I was 10, I always wished to write more poems on various topics, and collect all those poems and bind them into pages of a book and publish it. Writing poems, short stories, writing journals all these things were part of my daily chores, but combining all these poems and publishing them was a forever dream. Shades of life, being my first ever poetry collection is just a start, and a part of my bucket list.

Q2-What genre is your current book is of and why?

Answer- My book ‘Shades of Life’ is of poetry genre. The book is basically divided into six parts, named as – living, break downs, change, rain, peace, and happiness. The book contains poems so realistic. The poems are very near and dear to the heart. As all humans undergo the same experience, emotions, feelings, and trauma which I tried to portray in my poems in coherent way. My book is of poetry genre because, since I was child I always wrote down poems, I wrote short stories too but poems catch my interest more quickly, so I collected all the poems and made my book a poetry collection.Q3-Any special stuff about your current book you would want to share with our readers?

Answer- The book contains poems so realistic. The poems are very near and dear to the heart. As all humans undergo the same experience, emotions, feelings, and trauma which I tried to portray in my poems in coherent way. That’s the point that one should give a try to my book. As said it’s all connected to the core of each other’s life hence, we all find relief when we see or read the same happenings as ours. As it tells us that we are not the only ones undergoing the same. All the chapters are perfectly sequenced showing the cycle of life, how we all live with guts to take risks, even though cyclones are what life asks for. Because everyone who is capable of love, is also capable of having break downs. Because these break downs are the initial stage of every new start.

Q4-Apart from writing what else you like to do?

Answer- Apart from writing I love reading books of different genres, I love travelling and trekking, also I love drawing and painting, as I am currently studying designing and want to build my career as a designer. Drawing and painting have always been my favourite hobbies, long before I could write, even in my books I have drawn some line drawing below half of the poems, also the book cover is designed by me.  Even I write many things about art, how I can’t express some of emotions by poems but by expressing it on paper through drawings. For me both poetry and art go hand in hand. As Leonardo da Vinci once said, “Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen.”

Q5-What difficulties you face during writing a book and how do you overcome them?

Answer- While writing a book the major difficulties I face for poems specifically is to rhyme the lines, as readers usually prefer poems that rhyme. Also many difficulties regarding the vocabulary, as I try to use a different word but I also don’t want everyone to get stuck at that particular word as they might not know the meaning. To overcome these difficulties, I usually prefer words that are simple and easy to understand, I highly appreciate a good rhyme scheme as more readers love those poems.Q6-What message would you like to share with people who are keen to write a book?

Answer- As a progressing young writer I would like to share this thing with the young writers out there that feel free to write your heart out and not be shy, because along with being imaginative one must also be realistic, as your real work can fetch more eyes. Also, The best advice I got while writing was, “Just keep on writing, don’t hurry things just because you want to complete the book and get it published as soon as possible, instead find a good motivation and write things down and improvise the same.”
