1.Hello Hari Hara Subramanian, how you describe yourself to our readers?

Hello Team, I am fortunate to have had varied and interesting experiences throughout my personal and professional life. I am currently based out of the U.K, where I work as an independent consultant, while parallelly continuing to strengthen my writing skills. I am an MBA alumnus of XLRI Jamshedpur.  I have 13+ years of management experience across industries and functions.

2.When did you realise you want to be a writer and what’s your inspiration behind it?

One of the roles which I enjoyed the most was when I was working as the Executive Assistant to the Head of Sales at Mahindra Auto. This role helped me develop my writing skills as I used to draft a lot of emails and executive summaries.

After 8+ years in corporate, I decided to take a 6-month break during my daughter’s birth to be of help to my wife. It was then that the writing bug bit me and I decided that why not laugh at myself through a book chronicling my journey. I have always believed that humor is a great stress buster and if you are able to bring a smile to others’ faces, you have impacted them positively. This is how the book was born.

3.How it feels being a writer? What are things which have changed after being a writer?Where do you get ideas for your writing?

The joy of holding the first printed copy of your book in your hand is priceless. People all around me were proud of me. My daughter saw my photo on the back cover of the book and seeing her smile gave me immense satisfaction. I have been featured in several leading national publications like Telegraph, Free Press Journal, Dainik Bhaskar, Pagal Guy, Inside IIM, etc. I have been invited to speak in multiple podcasts. I have also been recognized by my alma mater in “XLRI Alumni Achievements”. It has given me a lot of confidence to attempt things which are out of my comfort zone. I get ideas from my own life experiences.

4.What suggestion do you have for budding writers and what was the most difficult task in your writing career?

The first step is always the hardest. My suggestion for budding writers is to take the plunge, start writing and you never know how far it will take you. .  Blogging is a great way to improve writing, experiment with genres, and get feedback.

The most difficult part in my writing career was to deal with self-doubts , when I started.. I had a lot of self-doubts whether I am good enough to be a writer. But I thought the best way to remove these doubts is to complete the action and wait for the world to decide the quality of the output. I got a lot of encouragement from my friends and family when I discussed the idea of my book. I got some great suggestions as well. This helped me remove my self-doubts whether I could complete the book or not. Once I wrote the manuscript, I was very confident that readers would appreciate my effort

5.You have featured in several books, how do you manage time for writing and are you writing something as of now?

I dedicate a day of the week only for writing. I go to a coffee shop and write at a dedicated time every week. This has helped me build a writing routine. I am working on a few ideas for children’s picture books.

6.Tell us about your book and kindly attach the link of your book so that readers can get a grasp on these beautiful read.

Inspired by real-life incidents, “Hilarious MBA Memoirs” is a hilarious autobiographical satire on the life of an MBA grad from one of India’s best B schools through childhood, college, and corporate days. This rib-tickling stressbuster chronicles funny anecdotes throughout the protagonist’s life right from the rote learning methodology in childhood, to the struggle in his MBA days (making a CV, fish-market group discussions, social media mishaps, summer internship fiasco, date nights gone wrong, etc.), followed by his journey as an eligible corporate bachelor struggling to find a wife through the arranged marriage route, and culminates with a heart-warming climax.

I am sure the readers will find the anecdotes extremely relatable and I hope the book will bring a smile to their faces. It is a light and easy read, which is around 130 pages.

7.Is there any message you want to share with our writers?

Read a lot before you start writing. Focus on controllable elements and activities without obsessing about the result. The universe will conspire to take you ahead. Do not give up and the joy of seeing the copy of your book in your hands is worth the effort. My best wishes to all the emerging writers.
