Q1) Welcome to the Exclusive Interview Series , Riddhima . You do write on several topics, both fiction and non – fiction . Do tell us how you choose a particular topic for writing.
Ans : Thankyou for inviting me . Yes I do prefer writing on several topics and I often experiment with different ideas. It keeps me motivated as an author. This mainly happens because I like reading and the more I read , I actually find out more on different genres and styles of writing. I do write poetries, short stories and now I also might venture into Dark comedy as well.
Q2) Often there are times that one script or book does extremely well and the other book does slightly against expectation. As an author how should one be generally motivated in such a scenario ?
Ans : I often do take criticisms positively because I understand that this is needed for growth. There are times I have also given my scripts to people and taken constructive criticism and implemented them in my writings and it has done really well. We should remember that as authors “ Writing is something that we love to do – so we should try experimenting with different styles”. Some scripts work some don’t but it is always a lesson that can be learnt .
Q3) Do you feel reading more books is important as an author . Does it help to create the structure of writing ?
Ans: Reading books is definitely important as we understand and get to know the details of the story and scene settings and much more. We get to know how the story moves, the evolution of character and much more. Like for an example , a character in the book , who has a certain kind of emotions in the first chapter, would not act the same in all the chapters. So yes reading books are really important as an author as it helps to frame a structure in writing.
Q4) Do you work on one or multiple books at a time ?
Ans: I generally do work on one book at a time . But there are times that I work on more than one book , if I feel like I am caught up in the process or I have a creative block. Its generally one book at a time but there are times that I work on more than one topic. Sometimes it can be that I work on one book and one short story , or poem or interviews . I do take out time for my creative writing on a regular basis.
