Q1) Namaste Author Ekta. Tell us about when you started writing ?
Ans The journey began during my school days with writing personalized poems on Birthday and New Year cards for friends. However, as time flew and passion took a backstage, I was reminded of my love for writing while pursuing my Masters in Computer Application. I won awards in my college fest and felt the urge to write more.
In 2020 February, after I lost my best friend, my mummy, I was spiraling down into depression. Being the strong bachha of my family was pressurizing me more to help others in my family deal with the loss rather than give myself the time to heal.At such times, pouring my emotions into lyrical verses helped me to reduce the overwhelming loneliness and help me heal myself.
Q2) Have you ever faced writers block ? How did you come out of it ?
Ans Yes! I do face writers block many times. I overcome it by telling myself to write whatever I am feeling and not bother about the format; whether poetry, short story, or just stream of consciousness writing.
Q3) What is your most memorable experience when it comes to writing ?
Ans: Every time a reader approaches me with the words that reading my verse feels as if it’s their story and they get a ray of hope by reading it, it adds fuel to my passion for writing.
Additionally, when I write about my hometown Roorkee, it seems that time has come to a standstill and I can re-live the precious moments so close to my heart. I feel rejuvenated and blessed to be associated with the town with a soul.
Q4) There are not many people who encourage us in the process of writing ? Have you ever witnessed the shortcomings ?
Ans :As a working professional, finding time to do what you love most,writing, does become challenging at times. As women, we juggle multiple roles. At times when one area of life needs utmost attention, the others tend to get neglected.
Being judged by our loved ones at such times makes us question ourselves. However, during such times, I re-orient myself to my purpose of writing my masterpiece one day and constantly reminding myself the famous quote:
“If there’s a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.”

Q5) Is there any message that you want to send to the writers who wants to set their foot in the field of writing ?
Ans A couple of things that I would share from the core of my heart:
- Never judge yourself or compare yourself with others. Each one of us have been assigned a unique journey and we are doing great.
- Write with your heart with complete honesty, not afraid of making yourself vulnerable. True words are like x-rays. They will penetrate to the deepest core of your readers heart.
- Never suppress your inner child. Pamper it throughout life. That’s what makes you, the real you.
- Self-care is not selfish. Give your mind and body the pampering it deserves, and it will churn out a masterpiece.
