In a significant escalation along the western front, Pakistan launched a major offensive late Thursday, targeting military installations and civilian areas in Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Punjab using drones, missiles, and coordinated swarm attacks. The Indian Army responded swiftly, intercepting and neutralising over 45-50 drones in a large-scale counter-drone operation.
According to official sources, Pakistan attempted to breach Indian airspace through multiple swarm drone intrusions across the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border. The Indian Army’s Air Defence units—deployed in Udhampur, Samba, Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota, and Pathankot—successfully neutralised all aerial threats using a combination of L-70 guns, Zu-23mm systems, Schilka anti-aircraft systems, and other advanced counter-UAS technology.
Hours after foiling Pakistan’s aggression, the Indian Army on Friday released a video showing its counteroffensive. The footage, which followed the title “Operation Sindoor,” depicts the destruction of what is believed to be a Pakistani military post. While the exact location and nature of the target were not disclosed, the visual response was part of a broader message reaffirming India’s commitment to national security.
A statement accompanying the video read:
“OPERATION SINDOOR. Pakistan Armed Forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along the entire Western Border on the intervening night of 08 and 09 May 2025. Pak troops also resorted to numerous ceasefire violations (CFVs) along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The drone attacks were effectively repulsed, and a befitting reply was given to the CFVs. The Indian Army remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nation. All nefarious designs will be responded to with force.”
The Indian Army’s successful air defence operations and prompt retaliation serve as a stern message to any hostile intentions, emphasizing India’s resolve to protect its borders and civilian population.
