Indian Army Thwarts Pakistan’s Overnight Drone Attacks, Delivers Befitting Response

In a strong show of force, the Indian Army successfully repelled a series of coordinated drone and missile attacks launched by the Pakistan Armed Forces along the western border, including the Line of Control (LoC), on the intervening night of May 8 and 9 under Operation Sindoor.

According to a statement released by the Army on Friday, multiple Pakistani-origin drones and munitions targeted military installations at Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur. The Indian forces responded swiftly using a mix of kinetic and non-kinetic countermeasures, preventing any casualties or material losses.

“The drone attacks were effectively repulsed and a befitting reply was given to the ceasefire violations,” the Army stated. It added, “#IndianArmy remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation. All nefarious designs will be responded to with force.”

The Ministry of Defence reiterated on Thursday that any attack on Indian military sites would prompt a “suitable response.” This latest escalation comes just two days after Indian armed forces carried out precision missile strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan, in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.

The defence ministry confirmed that all threats were neutralised in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), emphasizing India’s full preparedness to defend its people and territory.
