The men’s team last competed at the World Cup, where they placed 29th overall, while the women’s team placed 16th.In the Sunday semifinal match, India overcame Chinese Taipei 21-20 to get to the coveted World Cup. The squad lost to Japan in the Asia Cup final and came in second place. Earlier in the competition, India defeated Jordan 2-19 in the quarterfinals.
The team’s victory left K Govindaraj, president of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI), feeling quite happy, so he announced a gift of Rs 1 lakh for each team member.The sixth edition of the FIBA U17 3*3 Asia Cup got underway on October 13 in Kaula Lumpur, Malaysia, following a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
