Neeraj Chopra’s win at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 has brought laurels to the country. The 23-year-old ended India’s 100-year-wait for their first-ever medal in athletics and it came in the form of gold. He became the first from the country to win gold in track and field in the Olympics, courtesy his throw of a distance of 87.58m to feature at the top in the podium.
To celebrate the extremely important occasion, the Indian National Anthem was played which left a lot of Indians shed tears of joy. He ended India’s 13-year-long wait to hear the national anthem being played at the Olympics following a top spot on the podium.
Chopra was in splendid form en route the final and the youngster lived upto expectations — even though he fouled his next two attempts — with a superb first, second and final throw; returning with 87.03m, 87.58m (his best which none in the field could come close to) and 84.24m, respectively.
