On Monday, November 20, Indian director Ekta Kapoor won the 51st International Film Awards’ Directorate Award, making history as the first Indian woman filmmaker to win the International Emmy Directorate Award.

When Vir Das won the Best Unique Comedy prize at the 2023 International Emmy Awards, he created history. Vir Das: Landing, a Netflix special, is presently available for viewing. ‘Derry Girls – Season 3’ and him shared the trophy. Between the two, there was a tie.Netflix, which is pushing for collaborations with Indian creators, benefits from the award. Netflix India Vice President Content Monika Shergill represented the streaming provider at the awards ceremony in New York City.

Ekta Kapoor posted a video of the coveted trophy to Instagram with the remark, “India I’m bringing home YOUR Emmy @iemmys.”The industry has benefited from Ekta Kapoor’s contributions, as seen by her triumph.
