The Jindal Steel And Power Plant JSPL have planned to open a steel plant in Odisha. What strikes about the planning of Odisha’s steel plant is the vision of the JSPL to make it the largest and the greenest plant in India. The plant will be opened in the Angul- Talcher belt.
Naveen Jindal, the company’s chairman, said this, adding that JSPL has acquired adequate coal reserves to allow the giant steel business to increase its capacity for green steel production. He said that JSPL is the world’s first steelmaker to construct a Coal Gasification plant to create steel utilizing clean coal technologies.
The announcement of this plan was made on April 1, an auspicious day in Odisha, Utkal Divas. In the press meet Jindal said, “On the 17th Punya Tithi of Shri OP Jindal Ji, who had a vision of utilizing indigenous coal to create steel, we won the Utkal B1 & B2 Coal Block.” This will assist us in realizing Bauji’s and Biju Patnaik’s united aim of bringing prosperity to Odisha through the value addition of natural resources and industrialization.”
“Odisha is our karmabhoomi (place of employment), and we are dedicated to its total development.” We will build the world’s largest single-location steelmaking complex at Angul, Odisha, by 2030,” he stated in a tweet, aligning with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s vision of industry-led holistic development.
