Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the BJP is heading for a “historic defeat” in Delhi, which has led its workers to engage in hooliganism with the backing of the police. On Wednesday, the former Delhi chief minister accused the Delhi Police of aiding the BJP’s election campaign against his Aam Aadmi Party in the capital. Kejriwal expressed concerns that voters might be prevented from casting their votes and called on the people of Delhi to unite and give the BJP a strong response.
Atishi further accused BJP workers of trying to disrupt AAP’s door-to-door campaigns in the constituency.
“In every area of the Kalka Ji constituency, a large group of BJP workers, along with individuals claiming to be Ramesh Bidhuri’s nephews, are harassing AAP volunteers. Ramesh Bidhuri called one AAP worker and urged her to rejoin the BJP. When she responded that she was now with AAP and Atishi, Bidhuri reportedly called the party a ‘terrorist organization’ and claimed that Atishi would be jailed after February 8,” Atishi told the media.
“There have been several such incidents. BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri, along with his workers and nephews, are not focusing on the election but are instead engaging in hooliganism. We will be filing a complaint with the Election Commission, demanding that an FIR be lodged against Ramesh Bidhuri, his workers, and his nephews, and that strict action be taken,” said the Delhi Chief Minister.
The Delhi assembly elections are set for February 5, with results to be announced on February 8. The AAP is striving for a third consecutive term after its resounding victory in 2020, where it won 62 out of 70 seats.
