“Kejriwal Slams Centre for Failing Women’s Safety, BJP Hits Back with Swati Maliwal Case”

Arvind Kejriwal stated that he does not view women as a “vote bank” and has “done everything within his power” to ensure their safety. On Monday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener accused the BJP-led Centre of failing to guarantee women’s safety and maintain law and order in the national capital. Speaking at a ‘Mahila Adalat’ event at Thyagaraj Stadium, Kejriwal claimed that the BJP has not made women’s safety a priority, despite its control over the Delhi Police. “Ten years ago, you entrusted me with the task of improving schools, hospitals, and water supply in Delhi, and I fulfilled that responsibility. But you gave the responsibility of security to the BJP and Amit Shah, who have failed,” Kejriwal said, as reported by PTI.

The “Mahila Adalat” was organized to mark the 12th anniversary of the 2012 Delhi gang rape, which sparked nationwide outrage and led to tougher anti-rape laws.

At the event, several women who had survived sexual assault shared their traumatic experiences, with many breaking down as they recounted their stories before the audience. The event was attended by INDIA bloc ally Akhilesh Yadav, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, and others.

Yadav supported Kejriwal’s accusations regarding women’s safety and praised the AAP. “The Home Department is merely a formality. If they can’t provide security, then who is fulfilling the duties of the Home Department? Many states have adopted the AAP’s health model,” Yadav remarked.
