Samarth Verma(Kendrapara collector presses caution button after Covid outbreak), Kendrapara collector and district magistrate have exercised due caution after the outbreak of the maiden Covid positive case in the district. One 32-year-old youth, a Dubai returnee, tested positive for the virulent Coronavirus.
Verma(Kendrapara collector presses caution button after Covid outbreak) has announced the sealing of 12 villages after reporting of the first case. The 11 villages are located within three km radius of Aul area.
Kendrapara district collector Samarth Verma(Kendrapara collector presses caution button after Covid outbreak) said the public movement in the villages has been restricted and sanitisation exercise will be taken up in these areas.
He, however, said there is no need to panic for the sanitisation process as the district administration will continue to provide essential items to each household.
“The fresh COVID-19 patient from Kendrapara district has been admitted to a hospital in Cuttack and samples of his family members have been collected for the test”, he said.
All his family members have been put in home quarantine, Verma added.
This apart, the administration has also sealed several localities in Cuttack, Jajpur and Puri districts and declared these areas as containment zones, the official said.
Briefing about the patient’s travel history, Verma(Kendrapara collector presses caution button after Covid outbreak) said the patient is 32 years old and he returned from Dubai March 24. The entire village has been disinfected and entry and exit points have been sealed.
Each of the 11 villages will be disinfected one after the other and necessary measures will be taken to contain the spread of the deadly virus.
In parallel, the Kendrapara district administration has put up 4980 isolated beds and installed 249 temporary medical camps at all the 249-gram panchayats to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
Verma said that 20 isolated beds were set up in every gram panchayat to keep the people coming from Corona affected areas in isolation.
The collector informed that 539 people who had returned from abroad and 6791 who had travelled to other states had registered their names.
The Kendrapara municipal authority along with SHG Groups has started delivery of hot cooked meals at the doorstep to enable people to stay at home and observe social distancing.
