Prem Chandra Chaudhary(Ring-fencing Bhubaneswar from Corona assault) has displayed a rare amalgam of grit and courage is taking a slew of foolproof steps to cocoon Bhubaneswar from the clutches of virulent Coronavirus.
Five areas in Bhubaneswar – Surya Nagar, Satya Nagar, Bomikhal, Sundarpada and Begunia-Jadupur – have been declared as containment zones.
BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary(Ring-fencing Bhubaneswar from Corona assault) said that a total of 34 positive COVID-19 cases was detected in Bhubaneswar.
He said: “The BJB Nagar has been sealed and the IB office under quarantine. The decision was taken as per detection of positive cases or contacts or cases having travel history.”
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday gave a clear break-up of the occurrences and their locations in the capital city. The health department and BMC came up with a map showing positive COVID-19 cases in Bhubaneswar with their location.
The matter was clarified by the Municipal Commissioner in the evening. He addressed the media to clarify the matter. He(Ring-fencing Bhubaneswar from Corona assault) said five areas have been declared as containment zones.
Choudhury said the surveillance in Surya Nagar covered around 4000 households. Azad Nagar has a total of 430 households, Bomikhal has 2777, Satya Nagar 2500 and IB Colony has 107 where active surveillance is on, he added.
All the active coronavirus positive patients were shifted to COVID-19 Hospital and they are in isolation.
Previously, Chaudhury had allayed fears of a community-level transmission of Covid pandemic.
A link to the outside state has been established in each of the cases that rule out chances of community spread of the disease in the state. Meanwhile, the administration will continue surveillance in all quarantined areas, Chaudhary added.
