KL Rahul Loses IPL Opening Spot at Delhi Capitals, Adapts to Batting Order Reshuffle

KL Rahul is gearing up for a fresh chapter in the IPL as he joins Delhi Capitals for the 2025 season. Following his key role in India’s victorious Champions Trophy campaign, Rahul now faces a shift in his IPL career, moving away from both his long-standing role as a captain and an opener.

Delhi Capitals secured the 32-year-old for INR 14 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction after his release from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). His three-year stint with LSG was marked by inconsistency and scrutiny over his strike rate.

According to a Times of India report, DC has opted for a strategic change, positioning Rahul in the middle order rather than his usual opening slot. This shift signals a new phase in Rahul’s IPL career as he adapts to his revamped role in the Delhi-based franchise.
