At the 72nd National Film Awards, Amartya Bhattacharyya’s “Lahari” took home the Best Odia Film prize. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting declared the winners. Films approved by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in 2024 were honored at the 72nd National Film Awards. Best Feature Film went to “Article 370,” Best Actress went to Yami Gautam, and Best Actor went to Kartik Aaryan and Mammootty. It is anticipated that Lahari’s victory would raise awareness of Odia film and its developing narrative traditions on a national scale.
Ahmad Al-Ghaili, Prasanta Kumar Behera, and Jhilik Bhattacharjee play significant parts in the Odia-language film, which is directed by Bhattacharyya. The movie was released in 2025 and has a 123-minute length. The film, which centers on Dinu, a fisherman from a small rural town, delves into family dynamics and shifting social ideals while examining the conflict between tradition and advancement.
