According to the Principal Secretary for Housing and Urban Development, G Mathi Vathanan, 1.73 lakh families have received land right certificates in municipalities and NACs throughout the State, and 1 lakh slum families will receive land right certificates by December 2023. Slum household surveys have been completed in five municipal corporations. On Friday, Mathi Vathanan spoke to a news conference when Departmental Minister Usha Devi was reviewing the H&UD Department at the CM’s request.
The H&UD Secretary also mentioned that the agency has built 1,62,327 homes. Door-to-door rubbish collection was made sure in all 2,055 wards in 115 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). According to Mathi Vathanan, the Drink from Tap Mission has succeeded in connecting 100% of families in 85 cities in Odisha, including all five corporations, to a clean drinking water source. Before December 2023, the remaining 30 cities would be covered.

The government will build a metro trunk line from Trisulia, near Cuttack, to Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar in the initial phase. Major monuments like Nandankanan, Patia, Vani Vihar, and the Railway Station will all be provisionally included in the route. The metro would eventually be extended to Jatni, Khurda, and Puri, the official added.
