The Nation-wide lockdown and art stood as a barrier for many, implementing brakes in many activities, but it turned out to be a boon for 19-year-old Soumyabrata Pati, a native of Dhenkanal town. Eventually, the lockdown has gifted Soumyabrata with a new identity as well as sourced him with a new way of income.
During the period of lockdown he made his new friendship with pencil and colours and gradually started drawing and painting the pictures of God, Goddess, Cinema Artists and famous personalities which went on accumulating praises on the social media, crowning him with the new title of a “Painter” as well as helped him to get with the orders from big cities like Bangalore, Delhi and Patna. The lockdown helped him to identify his inner talent and to adore him as a celebrated artist in the locality.
Soumya, who is currently on his second year of graduation, helps his father (who is a priest) to perform the pujas. During the lockdown,as everything went closed. Soumya thought of to utilize the time judiciously. He thought of doing something extraordinary, artistic and to implement the whole time to create something new. Today, he has garnered the tag of a painter for himself as well he’s getting huge wishes from across the city.
The drawings, and paintings made by Soumya are well acclaimed by many people, his realistic paintings made him a well known personality in his neighborhood, even this made him quite optimistic for the future to continue with the drawing and painting.
“During the Lockdown, everything was closed, and we were confined to our home, I had enough time, so, I decided to use it judiciously, I started with making sketch, and eventually, it went fantastic, I worked more and more on it and Today, I am very happy for my deeds,” said Soumyabrata Pati
Indeed, the pandemic and lockdown have affected us in many ways, robbed our happiness but if we have a strong will power and determined to our goal, then we can achieve success for sure.
