For the second time, ‘Mo Bus’ won the top award this year for the innovation undertaken in urban transport during the pandemic by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
In the National Level conference – 13th Urban Mobility India (UMI), which was held via online conference, ‘Mo Bus’ won the award for ‘Innovation Undertaken in Urban Transport during COVID-19’. Last year the meeting was held in Lucknow, where the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) was given the first prize for ‘Best City Bus Service Project’ in their new initiative category. The award was given after the evaluation, which was taken by various bus companies across the country. The national jury then decided to award the first prize ‘Award of Excellence to Capital Region Urban Transport’ to Odisha.
Durga Shankar Mishra, Secretary, MoHUA, and other representatives hailed CRUT for its innovative approaches to keep passengers safe during the pandemic. Even other bus companies from different states showed their keen interest to learn from CRUT about their processes adapted during this pandemic.
Arun Bothra, Managing Director, CRUT, received the award and stated, “We are thrilled to receive UMI award two times in a row. I thank the Government of India for this recognition. This will motivate us to provide better services to the commuters while taking all precautions. The award to CRUT reflects the seriousness of the State government about Covid measures. The COVID-19 measures taken by the government are considered one of the best in the country. We are happy that Mo Bus has lived up to everyone’s expectation and enhanced the reputation of Odisha in terms of Covid management.”
The program was conducted via video conferencing and was attended by many senior officers of various City Bus Companies from all over the country and the seniors of the Government of India.
